Kayak Fly Fishing Outlook

The winter fishing cycle has settled in for the season. Breatheable waders with protective wading shoes will be the uniform of the day through March. Coastal fishing in NE Florida is a year-round activity and the clear waters of winter are very productive indeed.

Throughout these cooler months Redfish, Sea Trout, Flounder and Bluefish will be bending our rods. The Sheepshead and Black Drum will also be biting. Redfish and Trout will continue biting through the winter and into the spring. Late February and March usually provide some fabulous fly fishing for very large Ladyfish.

This time of year calls for a slower retrieve with shrimp and baitfish imitations bringing lots of action. As always, don't forget the Clousers!
